Embrace The Change

With every beat of your heart, you change. Every breath you take, every time you shift your weight from one foot to the other, or even smile, something changes within you. Every thought that you have changes you as well, from moment to moment, and you’re not even aware of how rapidly and completely you’re changing, even inside a 24-hour window.

If you look at yourself in the mirror on a day-to-day basis, you are unlikely to see the multitude of changes that you have undergone. But if you view a picture taken a month or a year ago, you will notice many different things about you, including hair growth, style change, and more. In fact, in some instances two snapshots taken only a day apart could be completely different. This is because one event or choice in our lives can cause massive ripples that affect every part of our lives. This choice may not have even been a conscious one, but it may have changed your whole life.

We aren’t usually able to identify the differences in our reflections from day to day but we can understand that change is happening to our appearances. We experience a similar gradual transformation within ourselves. However, despite the similar gradual changes, one difference between viewing our reflection in a mirror and living our lives is that it doesn’t take an extended length of time for us to see dramatic change our lives. We are meant to achieve accelerated personal evolution and growth.

Like any other living thing, human beings are not static creatures. We are changing with every blink of our eyes, and though we do not consciously choose how our heartbeats change us, or how our cells divide, or multiply, or die off, we can consciously make decisions that affect other parts of our life. From what we want to eat for dinner, to how we invest our money, to when we will run to the grocery store or where to go this weekend, every choice that we make has an incredible impact on our lives.

Take a moment to note a few things that you are currently worrying about. For each worrisome issue, trace your path back to the choices you made that led you to this moment. In some cases, you may need to go back decades. When I consider how I achieved my current success, I can trace it back to when I was 21 years old. I was fired from my “dream job” at the bank because my personality was more “boss” than “employee.” I was absolutely devastated. In fact, even though I began searching for another job right away, I became so depressed that I couldn’t even imagine any other outcome or possibility for my life than to take whatever job offer I got first, regardless of whether or not the job was an ideal fit for me. The first job offer that I received turned out to be for a telemarketing position.

When I reflect on that time and think about how it paved a path for me to reach my current position, I can see how important that job choice was, though I didn’t know it at the time. This experience working as a telemarketer in a scripted environment gave me the skills I needed to create a scripted—and measurably effective—way to converse with people who owed me money when the economy crashed and people were unable to pay their debts. From there, I developed the innovative program that I now call Conscious Communications, which I later began sharing with other companies as well as the staff at my company.

I wouldn’t be in this position today if I had not accepted that telemarketing job. That job changed the probable outcomes for everything else that would eventually occur in my life. I can trace the source of where I am today back to that one moment, just as you may be able to do with the momentous decisions that you have made in your own life. So, embrace these changes that you experience in yourself every day, because you never know when one might transform your life for the better.
