First of all, what is a barrier belief? You might be familiar with the term limiting belief. This is a belief that constrains us and keeps us from thinking, doing, or saying something. Have you ever said something like I’m too old for that, people like me don’t…, or I don’t have time? I’ve taken it a step further and started calling these barrier beliefs. I have seen firsthand how these beliefs do more than limit us and our lives; they create a barrier that not only stops us from doing something. These beliefs disconnect us from a future that we want. I have an incredible exercise here for you to overcome these beliefs. You can access the worksheet here, or take a look at it after the instructions. (more…)Read More
Your perception is an incredible power that you wield. But when you do not shape your perceptions in an empowering way, you do not encourage your growth-mindset, and that can lead to some pretty painful cycles. I experienced this for myself. But once I realized that I could change these cycles with a simple shift in perspective, my whole life changed! Today I’ll be sharing a story from my past that truly shows how perceptions can completely change a situation. Even though this one seemed hopelessly painful, it worked out. You can take this story and apply these concepts to your own life. See which cycles you can change with just a simple shift.Read More
Your nervous system provides incredible survival support that kicks in whenever you’re too stressed, scared, or stimulated. This was incredible — back when we used to get chased by lions. Now, it’s a bit of a hassle because we are over-stimulated and stressed all the time in our current society. It can even become a health risk if we are too stressed and stimulated, because our body is constantly trying to jump into survival mode. But there’s good news! You can help shift your body back out of survival mode, which will help you be healthier overall!
If you ever experience a life-threatening situation, your hypothalamus (a tiny region of your brain) rings an alarm. That alarm lets your adrenals know to release a surge of hormones, adrenaline and cortisol usually leading the pack, to help you avoid the threat, whether it’s real or perceived.Read More

With every beat of your heart, you change. Every breath you take, every time you shift your weight from one foot to the other, or even smile, something changes within you. Every thought that you have changes you as well, from moment to moment, and you’re not even aware of how rapidly and completely you’re changing, even inside a 24-hour window.
If you look at yourself in the mirror on a day-to-day basis, you are unlikely to see the multitude of changes that you have undergone. But if you view a picture taken a month or a year ago, you will notice many different things about you, including hair growth, style change, and more. In fact, in some instances two snapshots taken only a day apart could be completely different. This is because one event or choice in our lives can cause massive ripples that affect every part of our lives. This choice may not have even been a conscious one, but it may have changed your whole life. (more…)Read More
Now you’re asking yourself, what’s a Primary Question? I’m about to tell you, but first I want to explain the impacts of having the right or wrong question rule your decision-making process. If I ask you to think back to a time when you had a disastrous outcome by making the “wrong choice”, most certainly there was a question that you asked yourself at that time that led you to the decision. If you are anything like me, you have had periods in your life that were so full of overwhelming chaos and tragedy that you honestly didn’t know if you would ever be able to fully recover. Times when you passed every day feeling blue or sad and eventually graduated to suffocating, full-blown depression—the kind that left you empty and hurting all at the same time.
What I’ve noticed (and maybe you have too) is that during these episodes of my life, I tend to have very similar habits, one being procrastination. I would feel so focused on being overwhelmed that I was completely stuck and would simply do nothing. Having insurmountable problems can quickly overwhelm you and there’s plenty of research to explain why stress causes us to “freeze” and avoid taking action. (more…)Read More
