Do you ever feel stuck? You know, that feeling where you’re just overwhelmed and you think you can’t act? Do you feel as though you’re in a dark hole with no ladder out? I have definitely been there in my past. As a young entrepreneur, I had many ups and many downs, and some particularly awful downs where I was afraid of losing my business. Since then, I have identified the things that kept me stuck and used that knowledge to pull my way out of that hole. One of the most useful first steps is to find out why you’re stuck in the first place. So here are 5 reasons why you may be feeling stuck:
1. You don’t feel worthy or able.
2. You’re afraid of failure.
When you have a fear of failure, you’re also afraid being embarrassed in front of peers. You don’t want to tell your friends and family that you’ve failed. What’s important to know here is that you don’t have to be afraid of your peers because more often than you think, they’re actually rooting for you, and they’re behind you 100%. They aren’t looking to judge you, so you don’t need to be afraid of them.
3. You have perceived limitations.
4. You don’t know where to start.
This is one that’s true for me. You have a clear goal, but you just don’t know how to achieve this goal. You don’t know what steps to take to reach your dreams. The easy way to overcome this is to work on breaking up the steps to achieve the goals, which is what my One Page Action Plan is all about. Another way to overcome this is to get help and find someone who can walk you through the steps.
5. You don’t make this goal a priority.
This one is the easiest to correct. You don’t take the time necessary to achieve your goals. You act like you’re interested in this goal, but you’re not being 100% committed to making those goals a reality. When you actually decide to make time for this goal and make it a priority, you can make unbelievable progress.
So those are the 5 things that keep us from achieving our goals, the things that keep us stuck. Sometimes, while reading through these descriptions, you may not identify with any of them. If you’re not stuck for any of these reasons, that’s great. However, it’s more likely that you just struggle to identify what keeps you stuck, even with a description.
